P3 Parent and Carer Sessions
Mrs De Lewyn is fun and she comes in to sing with us. We play games with her and learn songs. We learned about using “Te” and “Ta” to keep the beat. “So” and “Mi” are high pitches and low pitches. A stave is where you write music on. We wrote out So-So Mi-Mi So-So Mi.
Children started our new storytelling programme in P2 and the last group finished the sessions last week with a Mad Hatters Tea Party. Many thanks to Scottish Gas and the Scottish Book Trust for sponsoring this event. Our Storyteller in Residence Mara Menzies has entertained children and parents over the past year with her amazing tales. We have had lots of really positive feedback from parents and carers and we hope to run the programme again this session.
P3 have been reading and writing with their P6 Book Week Buddies. P6 came to read us a story. Then they helped us to share our favourite parts and say why.
Travis – My favourite part was when the mouse scared the Gruffalo’s child. I like reading with the P6’s because they helped to read the story.
Ivan – When the P6’s helped us to write about the story and what happened, and our favourite part.
Damien – I liked Zog because all the people from the Gruffalo were in it.
Michael – I liked drawing my favourite part with the P6’s.
Lily – Megan had a loud reading voice which I liked.
Lilli – I liked the P6’s taking turns to read Stick Man
Aaron – The P6’s made it really fun because they read Robot Rumpus in a funny voice!
Congratulations to Elham Najib P3 for her fabulous drawing which has been selected to be printed onto a window and hung in East Princess Street Gardens. This will be part of Edinburgh’s Christmas decorations and will be viewed by thousands of visitors to our city.
There were entries from primary, special and secondary schools in Edinburgh. Only twenty five were selected to be part of this special display.
Elham and her family have been invited to attend the launch event on Friday 25th November at the National Gallery of Scotland on the Mound.
There will be refreshments in the IT Gallery followed by a presentation in the Hawthornden Lecture Theatre and then a walk around the Winter Windows themselves including a photo shoot.
Well done Elham Najib P3
P3 had lots of fun learning how to make banana bread. Many thanks to Sam and Sammy who came in and volunteered their expertise at cooking and baking.
P3 enjoyed reciting their poems. Well done P3.
