Staffing Update

Leavers

Tam Diamond who has worked at Silverknowes and Craigroyston Primaries for nearly 27 years is leaving to take up a new post as a janitor with AMEY.

He started at Silverknowes Primary in 1992 as a Playground Supervisor, one of the first in Edinburgh . Tam enjoyed working with our children and his calm and supportive approach was recognised when he took on the additional post of Pupil Support Assistant.

We are so sorry to see him go as Tam has been such a big part of our school giving so much of his time, be it School Camps, Fun Days or helping to maintain the Environmental Garden in the holidays!

His hard work, conscientious and patient manner and willingness to help out will be so missed by us all. We wish him every success in his new post.

New Starts

Mrs Cleland has taken up her post as PT, Additional Support for Learning. She is getting to know many of the children and has already met with a number of our parents and carers.

Mrs Mei Wat and Mrs Fiona McKenzie are taking up their posts in the Nursery this month and will be covering the maternity leaves of Ms Porteous and Mrs McCabe until they return later in the year.

Craigroyston Babies

I am delighted to announce the safe arrivals of two staff babies. Mrs McCabe had a baby boy at the beginning of February and Mr Summerfield’s wife gave birth to a baby boy in February too. We are looking forward to meeting our staff babies soon!
We are also pleased to announce that Ms Grimley is expecting a baby in July and expects to begin her maternity leave in June.

Merry Christmas

On behalf of everyone at Craigroyston Primary, can I wish you aSANTA

Merry Christmas and very best wishes for  2018

A thank you too to all staff for their hard work and support this term especially during December which has been particularly busy!

holly   P2 and P3 Nativity

A huge well done to Primary 3 for their acting and singing in this year’s nativity  – Prickly Hay. They were fabulous and really did themselves proud. Our Primary 2 choir and band also worked  hard to learn their songs and sounded super.  The children were so confident in their performance and I am sure everyone enjoyed seeing them take part.

Christmas Activities   elf

P1, P2 and P3 had a special visit from Santa last week.  This was during the activity morning supported by Scottish Gas. It was good to see so many parents and carers take part in the activities and I know the children enjoyed sharing the activities with you.

Santa Run

P4-P7 have been building up their fitness levels by taking part in weekly runs. Thechildren have been encouraged to set their targets and build up their stamina. To mark their determination to improve their fitness, we had a Santa Run on Friday. Nursery –P3 were invited to join in too.  It was great to see everyone out having fun and getting fit. The Parent and Carer Association donated medals to mark the occasion. Thank you.

Christmas Lunch   santa

Nearly 250 pupils sat down to Christmas lunch this year. Our kitchen staff and dining staff did a fabulous job in ensuring the Christmas Lunch was served to so many in a relatively short lunch break. We had three separate sittings with the P7s doing a great job in serving lunch to the younger pupils and helping to make it such a festive success. Well done.
