Our Junior Road Safety Officers, Kiara McGhee and Malcolm Douglas, met with the Parent and Carer Forum and PC Tony Lawrence to talk about safety on the roads around our school. Everyone agreed that they were worried by so many cars coming into Muirhouse Place West between 8.30am amd 9.00am.
They decided that we would have a focus on parking responsibly near schools. The JRSOs ran a competition in the primary to design a poster to ask visitors, parents and carers not to park at the school gates and to think about parking in Muirhouse Avenue. This would cut down on traffic and and be only a short walk to the school.
The police are going to help with our campaign and officers will be around to talk to drivers about parking with care near to schools.
No one wants to see someone get injured so it is important that everyone thinks about their driving and parking near our school.
There were eight designs chosen to re inforce the Safe Parking message. These are displayed outside our school and are here for you to see too.
We think you will agree that the ideas are really good and we hope that their messages will be followed!
KEEP OUR CHILDREN SAFE.
PARK AWAY FROM THE SCHOOL.
BETTER STILL WALK TO SCHOOL!!
